The X Vinyl Series continues with label head Florian Meindl at the helm with the upcoming release Metaphysics. Synonymous with deep, dark techno, Florian does not disappoint with this 4 track EP, enlisting in demand producer and Rabe label boss Denise Rabe on remixing duties. Playing live with his Modular Synth set up, Florian began working on the concept for what would become these three original tracks while playing shows over the last month. The live jam character can clearly be felt in the first two tracks Metaphysics and Holomorphic Function. Florians original Bell’s Theorem has a deep melodic structure. With Denise Rabes interpretation, the track is contorted through some serious distortion pedals and broken beat to match her dark take on the synth line. The outcome is an impressive piece for one of those never ending nights in concrete walled rooms with oversized loudspeakers.

Hell Yeah Recordings are pleased to announce they have been tempted into the reissue market. As such, the label starts a new off shoot, PERDIO (roughly meaning ‘lost’ in Portuguese) which will focus on putting out re-issues and new remixes of classic or forgotten gems. The fist one is a newly remastered instrumental version and new Francisco Dub of Giorgia Morandi’s ‘Children of the Sky’, a cover of the italo-classic “Figli delle Stelle” by Alan Sorrenti which just happened to be released 40 years ago. The brilliant , remastered, original is seven sizzling minutes of elastic Italo house with happy chords that reach for the skies. Naive melodies and keys add to the colourful effect and cannot help to sweep your heart and get your feet tapping, especially with the rugged bassline that probs it up and the big drums that help drive it along. The special Francisco Dub Edit then builds and builds leaving the main hook for the very end… when it arrives you will be sent into raptures of Italo joy.

Kamelot are one of metal’s most unique, influential and prestigious acts that blends symphonic metal, prog, power metal and world music – so it comes as little surprise that the whole metal world held its breath in anticipation of The Shadow Theory! Deeply intrigued by analytical psychology, Kamelot spent the past year engineering a groundbreaking album leaning on three pillars: The Shadow Empire (The global mind), The Shadow Key (The Resistance) and The Shadow Wall (The veil that blinds us from the truth). A dystopian glimpse at the complexity of the human mind and its place in an oppressive society – an obvious parallel to all of us, in the here and now. And most of all a fascinating and eerie backdrop for thirteen lush and artsy songs that boast Kamelot`s trademarks; yet the band steps out to add new and modern elements along with bringing in some amazing emotions that harken back to their earlier days. Produced by Sascha Paeth (Avantasia) and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, more), the theatrical and beautifully dark The Shadow Theory is not only a new chapter in Kamelot`s illustrious career, it also is their most thrilling and diverse effort so far!

You Record are proud to present their eleventh release, the ‘Kant Straße’ EP by S Katz aka Katsuhiko. From 2016 – 2017 he was granted the opportunity to produce multiple tracks at a studio on KantStraße in Berlin using hardware supplied by Dandy Jack, with whom the space is shared, and his dear friend Mathew Jonson. Opening track is a groove-driven roller with robotic glitches talking a language of their own. ‘Hats and Steps’ is a versatile dancefloor cut replete with subtle details and layered rhythms. ‘Forest In Me’ takes a trippy journey to the afterhours with immersive field recordings and entrancing blips. Closing the EP is ‘You Are In The Display’, a truly weird vocoder-led track with swung percussion and a shuffling bass melody. This EP serves as a prologue to S Katz’s forthcoming album.
NØICE Records continue to establish themselves with another excellent new EP. This one comes from Moscow’s psypad, who never uses samples and records every aspect of his own music. This EP mixes up his house and techno styles into two fresh new tracks. Both were made during one-take live sessions with analogue synths and without a DAW, so are filled with an authentic and impromptu energy. “Neon Dusk” is first and is an uplifting and cosmic house tune with magical lead synth lines that dance about in the night sky. Driving drums power the track along and it oozes real atmosphere and warmth, as well as musical skill. “Daybreak” is a slower track with elastic bass and icy percussion. It’s still deep and grand in scale, and takes you on a real trip through the galaxies. This is expressive and emotive music that pairs a real sense of groove with meaningful melodies and chords.
In 1992, under the pseudonym JayDee he released the hit “Plastic Dreams“, which reached number-one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. The song, an instrumental, featured a prominent Hammond organ-style synthesizer melody, played in a jazzy, improvised manner. “Plastic Dreams” continues to be remixed and re-released today, mostly on unsolicited white labels. The track made the UK Singles Chart on two occasions; firstly in September 1997 when it reached number 18, and again in January 2004, when it reached number 35. He now releases a great down-tempo track.
