Affekt Recordings has its base in Frosinone, Italy and has been ran by Alex Dolby since 2012 culminating a passion for raw, hypnotic techno. The label’s back catalogue of music has seen artists such as Pär Grindvik, Alex Bau, Mental Resonance, VSK and MTD make contributions.
The latest release compiles fresh works from label head Alex Dolby himself for his fourth artist album entitled “Fault System” having released music on labels outside of his own like Emmanuel’s ARTS, DJ Emerson’s Micro.fon as well as Shinedoe and 2000 and One’s Intacto imprint, his educated sound is much loved around the world.
A love for analogue sounds, rough textures, and tough rhythms play a huge part in the album’s dystopian aesthetic that is as functional for club weaponry as it is a collection of abstract cuts for electronic music lovers.
Easing in gently with “Intro Signal” Alex experiments with a sparse sound design element before moving into the up-tempo Detroit influenced drones of “The Day After”. Following this things heat up with “Standard Process” being a manic monster, and “Modern Pascal” introduces a style switch up to a two step beat. Title track “Fault System” is a throbbing sonic trip and “The Afghan Express” is a blistering techno ride.
“Wild Yard (Reprise Mix)” sees a special release of a new edit that was originally supported by Ben Klock. The eighth track “Lunatic Boost” pushes a raw and broken beat, whilst “Chord Memories” injects vibrant energy once again, then closes proceedings is the jazzy style break of “Outro Signal”.
This album is a powerful statement of intent from a veteran producer that wishes to make a mark with another accomplished selection after being active in the scene for over 15 years.
“I start my career in 1991, I was 18 years old in France , I was playing commercial music, funk, disco, 80’s, euro dance, rock, pop, groove & RnB, and then I discover electronic music, first was trance music and few years after it was house music and from house music came deephouse. It was a kind of revelation.
In 2001 I start composing. It took me years to create something good and nice.
I released few tracks in different labels but the consecration was in 2016 when I sign my first album «Time lapse» on my favorite label of all time: Plastic City!
And now this is my 3rd album and this one is much more better than the two others . It’s the album of maturity.
because I give a lot of myself on this album…”

Austrian Ken Hayakawa keeps up Stripped Down Records’ fine run of form with two new tracks that get remixed by John Tejada and Whitesquare. Superbly soothing opener ‘Sonic Wave’ is a brilliantly warm and spaced out deep house track that voyages into the cosmos. American tech house titan and long-time Kompakt associate John Tejada steps up to remix and takes things even deeper, with pulsing, sonar-like acid blips and icy hi hats all working on melting your mind as warm, gurgling bass drives things forwards. It is Italian producer and DFTD, 2020 Vision and Freerange house master Whitesquare who then remixes. He brings plenty of spine-tingling chords to his version, which is deep yet driven, with layer upon layer of rich sound all oozing real soul. Hayakawa then finishes things off in style with ‘Lost,’ a brilliantly atmospheric track that is cavernous, dubbed out and finished with exquisite ambient details that cannot help but calm you. This is a beautiful EP of deep, dynamic house music.

Formed in Chicago, IL in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins released their heralded debut album Gish in 1991 and found mainstream success with 1993’s 4x multi-platinum Siamese Dream and 1995’s 10x multi-platinum Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
Following the release of Adore, Machina/The Machines of God, and Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music, the group’s original lineup disbanded in 2000. Singer/guitarist Billy Corgan reformed the group in 2005, enlisting various collaborators for Zeitgeist, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, Oceania, and Monuments to an Elegy. In June of 2018, The Smashing Pumpkins released their new single “Solara” ahead of their monumental Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour. The track was the first song in over 18 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin, alongside longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder and offered the first glimpse of music from the newly reformed lineup.
In September of 2018, the band formally announced their forthcoming 10th studio album SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. From daytime balearic galore to the last “back to mine” jazz nugget via dancefloor discoid mayhem, this is a journey into sound by, Balearic Gabba Sound System‘s main man and Hell Yeah‘s boss, Marco Gallerani. Till next selfie, cheers.

Claudio Ricci returns to his own label with a fresh new single that comes with superb remixes from Uner, Brigado Crew and Makossa & Megablast. Ricci is a veteran of the scene who was born in Vienna but is based in Ibiza. He has a weekly radio show on Ibiza Global Radio and takes cues from all styles of house music. He mixes organic sounds with proper melodies to enthralling effect and after EPs on the likes of MoBlack, Compost and Sudam, serves up his best work on his own ever more vital label. His original here is ‘Yano’, a perfectly paced track with loose, jumbled percussion. Dark, broad and sweeping chords bring tension and menace to the grooves, but a soulful vocal cry off in the distance means it also has real heart. A tribal track that is designed to unite the floor, it’s a perfect later summer anthem in the making. This excellent EP offers various house styles that will connect with a wide range of audiences.
DJ Lion – Mightery (Harthouse)
If it comes to an unique sound signature, then you can definitely tell without reading but listening to this massive 3 tracker, it’s a DJ Lion style. Stomping beats, wobbling basslines, catchy lead sounds. Yes! This is what makes a club track so catchy and markable. Mightery, Minimum Maximum and 1234554321 are tracks which will join a lot of dj cases during this hot summer and we are very happy to welcome again our new family member back on Harthouse. Welcome DJ Lion.
Theydream – Rocket Man (Fckng Serious)
The two brothers from beaituful Switzerland have formed an unbreakable bond based on both brother’s love of electronic music which they emphasize with their new “Rocket Man” EP yet again. With the title giving A-side track ”Rocket Man” the guys stay true to their name by inviting you, into their world of deep, melancholic and gloomy sound spheres which absorb you completely and leave you behind stunned and thrilled. The B-Side “Pi Persei” connects seamlessly and keeps your journey running through the next level of zero gravity and hypnosis. Integrated into a perfectly aligned beat structure, all three tracks are bursting with self-confidence and sophistication, certainly nothing you would be taking for granted when being confronted with these two humble and withdrawn young gentlemen. Theydream suceed in surprising us, also with their third track “Inertia”: an elaborate and gloriously, puristic piece of music which rounds of this impressive 3-track EP. Well-deserved.
Max Essa – Han Zon Roc EP (Hell Yeah)
A year after his debut outing on the label, Max Essa makes a welcome return to Hell Yeah with the Han Zon Roc EP, which is another of his impossibly laidback offerings. Essa is of course the long time UK talent who has become a part of the Balearic mafia thanks to releases on labels like Aficionado, Music for Dreams, and his own Jansen Jardin. This is the second coming together of artist and label and is another timeless excursion far out to sea.
